I got into the Subhumans via a cassette tape that was available via the excellent New Crimes Fanzine back in 1981. These songs remind me of that excellent and then new grassroots anarchist punk period. The said cassette tape is available on YouTube....give it a blast. At first this will probably sound like pretty raw punk music. However, a careful listener will notice that it is not as chaotic as it might first seem, that the melodies and lyrics intertwine quite smartly, that there is much more than meet the ear at first hear. Those who will continue will discover a very good balance between raw ebnergy and well constructed songs, an immediate sense of urgency which went through just enough refinement. In other words, a great punk album.
